On January 15th (Mon.), SIED held “Let’s Cook Nanakusa-gayu” at the International Community Lounge on Imadegawa campus, and we welcomed 15 students including 14 international students.
In the event, we cooked nanakusa-gayu, which is special porridge made with seven vegetables. Japanese people eat it to give their stomach a break after eating a lot of special new year’s dishes. At the same time, people wish for a healthy year ahead for their family and themselves. Participants enjoyed its healthy taste.
At the end of the event, we gave participants round rice cakes as “otoshidama”, a special Japanese new year’s gift. We hope that this event was good opportunity to learn Japanese new year’s custom.
Thank you all for joining us! We look forward to seeing you all in our future events.
