(1) Notification of Place of Residence
All foreigners residing in Japan for more than 3 months need to register their place of residence at ward office or the city hall in the district of residence within 14 days of moving into their new residence.

My Number” System
In Japan, the “Social Security and Tax Number (My Number) System” started in October 2015. This system assigns a
personal number (My Number) to all individuals who are registered as residents in Japan, including international
students and researchers. This number is used in administrative procedures concerning social security and
tax.

(2) Report of Address
Please report your address to the administrative office of the faculty / graduate school you belong to and the
Office of International Students when your accommodation is decided.
If your address (and phone number) has been changed, you must reflect your change on DUET first, then also report
the change to the office of International Students as well.
