Updated Jul. 10, 2023
Having experienced the pandemic of the Novel Coronavirus (hereinafter “COVID-19”),
we have been practicing new forms of learning and education at the same time as preventing
spread of infection through the “new normal” lifestyle. As the result of such cumulative
efforts nationwide, COVID-19 will be reclassified as a Class V Infectious Disease in the
Infectious Disease Act from May 8, 2023 and the national policy concerning the disease will
shift to one that respects the choices of individuals, as with its response to seasonal influenza.
In addition, the presentation of a "valid vaccine certificate" or "pre-departure inspection
certificate" is no longer required for those who enter Japan from overseas.
