Hello, we are SIED. 

 

On Friday, May 29, we held a “Let's Make Gohei-Mochi, a traditional Japanese rice cake with sweet miso sauce!” event at the International Exchange Lounge on the 2nd floor of Fusokan and at Amherst Hall on the Imadegawa Campus. A total of 10 participants joined the event, including 5 international students and 5 local students. 

At this event, everyone made and ate gohei-mochi, a traditional local dish from the mountainous regions of central Japan. Participants worked together to mash the rice, made gohei-mochi in various shapes, and shared their thoughts with each other. The atmosphere throughout the event was warm, lively, and enjoyable.
Through experiencing this regional cuisine, we believe the participants had a valuable opportunity to discover new aspects of Japanese food and culture. 

 

SIED will continue to organize a variety of international exchange events in the future!
