Hello, this is SIED. 

 

On Friday, July 3, we held the SIED event “Let’s try making Japanese sweets Nerikiri!!” with a total of 15 participants, including 10 international students and 5 local students. 

At the beginning, we explained the history and characteristics of nerikiri to help participants deepen their understanding of this traditional Japanese sweet. After that, everyone moved to Amherst Hall, where they colored the gyuhi dough and shaped it into their own designs. Although some participants found the process challenging at first, they supported one another and shared tips, allowing every group to create its own unique nerikiri. In addition, the nerikiri-themed quiz created a lively atmosphere, and conversations naturally expanded to topics such as traditional sweets and food culture in participants' home countries, providing meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange.
