Hello from SIED!

On June 22nd (Saturday), we held the event "Let’s make matcha and walk around Byodoin!".

A total of 13 participants, including 8 international students and 5 local students, joined us for this event.

During the event, we experienced matcha making at Mitsuboshien-Kanbayashisannyu-Honten, where under the guidance of staff of this facility, we ground matcha with a stone mill and learned how to prepare matcha from start to finish. They also kindly explained the meanings behind each step and shared detailed knowledge about matcha, enhancing our enjoyment of the experience. Participants also had the opportunity to share their thoughts on the matcha making they tried, fostering interaction among each other.

Afterward, we divided into groups and explored Byodoin Temple. Each group enjoyed conversations while collecting temple stamps (goshuin) and visiting the museum inside the temple grounds.

Despite the rain towards the end of the event, we sincerely thank all participants who thoroughly enjoyed the event until the very end!

Looking ahead, SIED will continue to organize various international exchange events.
