Report: “Let’s make Yakisoba! - A Classic Japanese Street Food -” (Presented by SIED)
Jan.7,2026 Update
Hello! This is SIED.
On Monday, December 8th, we held the SIED-organized event “Let’s make Yakisoba! - A Classic Japanese Street Food -” at Imadegawa Amherst Hall. A total of 13 participants joined us: 10 international students and 3 local students.
At this event, participants made yakisoba, a traditional Japanese street food, and then enjoyed eating the yakisoba they made.
Before cooking, participants shared the history of street food culture and the cuisine of their home countries in the International Community Lounge.
After that, participants split into three groups and each group cooked four servings of Yakisoba at the Amherst kitchen. As they had read the recipe beforehand, the process went smoothly. To ensure everyone stayed involved, they rotated cooking duties within each group! They also adjusted things like the amount of water added to the yakisoba on the spot as needed.
Thanks to everyone's cooperation, the yakisoba was ready in about 30 minutes!
Finally, we ate the finished yakisoba in the Amherst Hall dining area. Since there was plenty of Yakisoba, the SIED staff also joined them. The yakisoba we made ourselves tasted even better than usual!
Participants shared encouraging feedback like, “I want to join another event,” and “It was fun interacting with friends from other countries.”
SIED will continue planning various international exchange events!
