Hello, we are SIED! 

 

On Friday, April 17, we held a welcome event for new students: “Card Game ‘The Mind’ & Welcome Party”! 

In the first half, we played “The Mind,” a cooperative card game in which players try to play cards in order without speaking. Although some participants seemed to find the rules a little difficult at first, we explained them using both Japanese and English materials with illustrations. As a result, all participants were able to understand the rules and successfully complete the game. 

During the game, participants carefully thought about the timing of playing their cards and celebrated together when they succeeded. Through the unique experience of cooperating without speaking, participants were able to naturally become closer to one another. 

In the second half, during the exchange event, more participants than expected joined us. Since it was the beginning of the new semester, the event became a great opportunity for international students and local students to talk freely and make new friends. The venue was lively throughout the event, and many participants actively enjoyed communicating with one another. 

Through both the card game and the exchange event, international and local students were able to interact naturally. We believe this event became a meaningful opportunity for students to make new friends at the start of the semester. 

At SIED, we will continue to organize various international exchange events.
