Report: “Nara Walking Tour” (presented by SIED)

Updated Dec. 15, 2023
Hello, we are SIED!

On November19th (Sun.) at Nara City, SIED event "Nara WalkingTour” was held!
14 students (8 international students and 6 local students) divided in 4 groups participated in this event. We visited Nara Park, NARA NATIONAL MUSEUM, and Todaiji Temple!
We walked to Nara Park, and then introduced ourselves. Since there were many international students in this event, we saw each group was introducing themselves mainly in English.
After that, each group walked together to the Buddhist Sculpture Hall of NARA NATIONAL MUSEUM. The long time spent for walking helped the participants to interact with each other, not only among groups, but also outside of groups, and everyone quickly became familiar with each other.
In the Buddhist Sculpture Museum, SIED staff explained the exhibits, followed by about 20 minutes of free time. After that, we headed to Todaiji Temple and had some free time in front of Nandaimon on the way. Since there were many deer, many people bought deer crackers and played with them. Even at this time, Japanese, English, and Chinese were being spoken among the participants, and everyone was enjoying international exchange while playing with deer.
After that, we went to Todaiji Temple to see the Great Buddha of Nara. During the free time, it was impressive to see that many participants went around Todaiji Temple not only with their group but also with other groups. Many participants tried to go through the holes in the pillars of Todaiji Temple, and the staff was happy to see everyone enjoying themselves.

Whether this was your first time coming to a SIED event or you have participated many times, we thank you very much for your participation!
SIED will continue to hold international exchange events in the future!
We hope you will join us.
