Hello, we're SIED!
We held a SIED event "Remember SIED -Day of the DEAD-" on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in International Community Lounge. We had a total of 12 participants, 7 international students and 5 local students!
In the United Mexican States, there is a festival called "Day of the Dead" which is Día de Muertos in Spanish, to welcome the spirits of the deceased who have returned to this world. For this event, the lounge was adorned with Mexican decorations like Papel Picado (lace paper) and Cempasúchil (marigolds). The Ofrenda (altar) we used in this event was decorated with the picture of Mr. Joseph Hardy Neesima! There was Mexican atmosphere in the lounge.
Everyone was in a friendly atmosphere throughout the event, and the ice-breaker, ¡Basta! (a word game often played in Mexico), was very exciting, not to mention the self-introductions. Then, participants painted Calavera (skull) masks and wore them to break Piñata. When they broke Piñata which is in the shape of Calavera, Mexican treats such as chocolates and pasta snacks came out! Participants took them home and "Remember SIED". After the event, we received many comments such as "It was fun!" "I was able to interact with international students and other local students!" We are very happy to hear such comments!
SIED will continue to take thorough measures to prevent new coronavirus infection and plan various international exchange events. We look forward to your participation!
