Report: “Let’s make Chinese paper cutouts!” (presented by SIED)

Updated Dec. 23, 2022
Hello, we're SIED!
We held a SIED event "Let’s make Chinese paper cutouts!" on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in International Community Lounge (Kyotanabe campus). We had a total of 9 participants, 3 international students and 6 local students!

The beginning of the event, participants introduced themselves and talked about the childhood experience of playing paper cutouts and art works like paper cutouts in their countries.
SIED staff gave the explanation about the history of Chinese paper cutouts and when and how people decorate them . Some students had never tried it before but international students from China told us fun experiences of them. For local students, it was quite fun and they listened to them a lot.
After that, the participants drew geometric pattern on red paper, cut it, and created beautiful artwork. They made their own wonderful Chinese paper cutouts.
Making paper cutouts was difficult work, but we communicated with and helped each other and finally they showed their art works on a white board. We are happy to see the great paper cutouts of participants.

SIED will hold many events you can interact internationally and make wonderful encounters under COVID-19 infection prevention. We look forward to your participation!
