Updated Nov. 22, 2023
Hello! We are SIED.

On October 25th(Wed.), SIED held an event, “Let's make your own Kyo-kumihimo!” at International Community Lounge on Imadegawa campus.
8 international students and 5 local students, 13 students in total participated in this event! In this event, participants experienced making bracelet using the technic of “kumihimo” which is one of the Japanese traditional craftworks.
Before making “kumihimo”, participants played with “ayatori.” Ayatori is one of the traditional plays using only a loop of thread. Many of the international students were surprised thread form like something magical and local students remembered nostalgic memories of their own childhood.
After that,we made “kumihimo.” In the first time, it looked difficult to make understand how to make it, but finally, all of they completed their kumihimo!
We were glad to see participant’s smile! Some participants even continued to make kumihimo after this event.
After the end, we received many positive comments from participants saying that they had a good time in this event.

We hope all participants had a wonderful experience though our event.
We will host many other intercultural events throughout the year, so don’t miss it!
