Report: "Univ. Presentation - Leiden University -" (presented by SIED)

Updated Jul. 5, 2017
SIED hosted “Univ. Presentation -Leiden University-” on June 28th (Wed.) at the International Community Lounge on Imadegawa campus.
We invited Rosalie, an exchange student from Leiden University, as a guest speaker to talk about Dutch culture and her university.
In her presentation, she introduced some unique Dutch cultures; on King’s Day, the entire country celebrates the king’s birthday with big parades and music festivals. The audience also learned that new parents give out special biscuits to visitors to celebrate a birth of a new baby.
She also talked about Leiden University. The audience was surprised to discover that Leiden University is the oldest university in the Netherlands and that Albert Einstein worked there as a visiting professor. Having listened to the presentation, many of the participants expressed their desire to visit the country and the university.
After the presentation, we had a mini Dutch lesson and enjoyed talking with Rosalie while trying popular Dutch sweets, caramel waffles, with a cup of coffee.
This was the last “Univ. Presentation” of the semester. Thank you, all the presenters and participants, for joining us! We will continue hosting “Univ. Presentation” next semester so that you can learn more about campus life in overseas universities. We look forward to your participation!
