On April 19th (Wed.), SIED hosted “Cross Cultural Trip America - Backpacking culture in the USA & Amherst College -” at the International Community Lounge on Kyotanabe campus.
In this event, Mr. Omar Pineda Jr. (the 56th Amherst Fellow) talked about Amherst College and about backpacking culture in the Unites States.
The participants first learned about Amherst College and its strong bond with Doshisha University. They also got a glimpse of American college life. Mr. Pineda, who is also an avid backpacker, went on to talked about the backpacking culture in the States, what you need to prepare and what to watch out when you travel. Many of the participants took notes of his tips while listening to his interesting stories.
