On November 10th (Fri), SIED hosted “Touch Asia Indonesia Gamelan Music, Wayang, and Javanese Dance Performance” at Clover Hall in Kambai-kan, Doshisha University. 46 people including the audience from the general public participated.
We held the concert as a part of SIED’s series event, “Touch Asia,” where we focus on the cultures of Asian countries. For the concert, we invited Indonesian Traditional Art Group, Hanajos, to perform traditional music called Gamelan and the puppetry called Wayang. The participants enjoyed the beautiful Gamelan sounds, the intricate moves of Wayang, and the artists’ fun talk. To close the concert, traditional instruments were given to the participants, and everyone played the Indonesian music together.
SIED will be introducing other Asian cultures as a part of "Touch Asia” series. We look forward to your participation!
