On October 7th (SUN), SIED held a welcome event for new international students, “Let's Go See Unique Mechanical Dolls! -Otsu Festival in Shiga-”. Otsu Festival has inherited the Gion Festival's hospitality and taste strongly.
37 participants, including international students, gathered at the International Community Lounge in Imadegawa campus from the morning. After learning about Hikiyama and Karakuri, the highlights of Otsu Festival, participants divided into groups and deepened their relationship through a mini game. Grasping the main attraction of Otsu Festival, we actually went to Otsu city in the afternoon. Once the participants found Hikiyama, everyone set up their cameras and enjoyed lively music. Some of the participants were fortunate enough to get the Chimaki, and said "I will decorate it on the entrance for a year!" After watching Hikiyama, we had lunch at the food stands. We were able to fully enjoy Otsu festival until the end.
Thank you for all participants. SIED will hold various events even after the welcoming new international student event, so please join us! All the staff are looking forward to seeing you.
