On October 20th (Sat), SIED and International Exchange Association Kyotanabe co-hosted “Let’s be an Ujicha Specialist!” at the International Community Lounge on Kyotanabe Campus. This event was held to promote intercultural exchange between Doshisha students (including international students) and local residents.
In the lecture of the event, the participants learned the history of Ujicha and how to brew the tea. They also had the time to brew the tea each other and compare its taste. After the lecture, the participants got “Ujicha Specialist” certificate. In addition, the Kyotanabe CIR gave us a lecture about tea history in Canada. The participants enjoyed not only the lecture but also making rice balls with tea leaves and pickles. Before ending the event, they were able to deepen their own understanding of the lecture while enjoying quiz competition about Ujicha and Canadian tea. The event was a good opportunity for especially international students to experience Japanese culture and interact with local residents in Kyotanabe.
SIED will continue to plan various international exchange events. We are waiting for your participation!
