Report: “University Presentation – University of Tampere, Finland-” (presented by SIED)

Updated Jan. 9, 2019
SIED hosted “University Presentation‐University of Tampere, Finland‐” on December 18th (Tue.) at the International Community Lounge on Imadegawa campus. 8 international students and 4 local students joined the event.
We invited Leevi from Tampere University in Finland as a guest speaker to talk about introduction of his university, culture and how to spend Christmas season in Finland. According to his presentation, on Christmas day, Finnish people often drink “Glögi”, which is similar to hot wine. Participants were surprised at the difference of the custom.
After the presentation, we enjoyed talking with Leevi while having “ginger cookies”, traditional Finnish cookies, and traditional bread called “ruisleipä”. Participants asked a lot of questions about Finland to Leevi in a relaxed atmosphere. We hope that participants got interested in Finnish cultures through the event.
SIED will host a lot of intercultural events this year, so please come to our event and enjoy with us. We all look forward to your participation!
