On June 7th (Fri.), SIED hosted “Japanese Ramen-Tasting Party” at the International Community Lounge on Kyotanabe Campus. 13 International students, including students from Rochester Institute of Technology, and 9 local students joined this event.
To start off the event, SIED staff introduced each characteristic of Japanese local Ramen. After that, participants tasted 6 types of Ramen: Onomichi, Hakata, Kyoto, Yokohama, Sapporo and Hachioji, and tried a game that which local Ramen is from which area. Some Ramen have easy-to-guess characteristics, but others don’t have. Students enjoyed comparing Ramen and interacted one another while the game. In the end of the event, we chose the most popular ramen by taking a vote.
SIED is planning many other events, so please check them out if you are interested in!
