On June 7th (Fri.), SIED hosted "Sencha Workshop" at Keishi-kan on Imadegawa Campus. 12 international students and 2 local students jointed this event.
"Sencha" is one of the traditional and representative Japanese tea culture. This was an event for both international and local students to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture through Sencha. We invited some members of SEIFU-KAI, which is an Ogasawara-style Sencha circle in Doshisha. Under the careful guidance of SEIFU-KAI, participants learned the procedure for serving tea and had a great time through interacting with one another. An international student who experienced Sencha for the first time said "I became interested in tea ceremony!" to SIED staff.
It would be nice if participants could enjoy Japanese culture or get involved in international exchange through this event. SIED is planning many other events for both international students and local students, so please check them out if you are interested in!
