June 8th (Sat.), SIED hosted "Introductory class of Nippon Kempo" at Shinsei-kan, on Kyotanabe Campus. In this event, with the cooperation of Doshisha Nippon Kempo Club, international students learned and experienced Nippon Kenpo, which is a practice martial art including all kinds of techniques such as hitting, throwing or ground combat.
All the participants wore special uniforms for Nippon Kempo, and first, had the same warm-up as the club members always do. Next, the participants learned Nippon-Kempo-specific technique patterns, and practiced 50 times each while confirming their own appearance in the mirror. Finally, they wore protective gear used in the game and tried practical punching.
Thanks to the passionately lesson by Nippon Kempo club members, international students were great excited during the event and said that they wanted to do more. In addition, it seems that it became a memorable event because they could interact with the club members a lot through the practice.
SIED is planning a variety of other events, so please join us! We look forward to your participation!
