Report: “Let’s make Bingsu!” (presented by SIED)

Updated Jul. 5, 2019
On June 27th (Thu.), SIED hosted " Let’s make Bingsu!" at the International Community Lounge on Kyotanabe Campus.10 international students and 5 local students jointed this event. This was an event for both international and local students to deepen their understanding of Korean culture through making Bingsu, which is a traditional shaved ice in Korea.
First, after learning about Bingsu from Korean staff, the participants talked about what kind of Bingsu they would like to eat. The most popular one was Mango's Bingsu. After that, the participants scraped the frozen milk, put it in a cup, and served it with red bean paste and Kinako (soybean flour). Then the traditional Bingsu, called “Patbingsu” is done. It looks very delicious. Lastly, we finished the event after taking a commemorative photo. However, everyone seemed to be reluctant to leave the Lounge, and enjoyed chatting, got to know each other. It seems to be a memorable event for everyone. It would be nice if participants could enjoy Korean culture and get involved in international exchange through this event.
SIED is planning many other events for both international students and local students, so please check them out if you are interested in!
