"Lunch Talk" and “Speak Up!” are SIED's regular free talk events where you can enjoy intercultural exchange while eating lunch. Usually, these events are held on Imadegawa campus and Kyotanabe campus separately, but in this semester, we held them online as "Online Lunch Talk", both campuses’ collaboration event.
We held the event eight times; June 17(Wed), 24(Wed), 30(Tue), July 3(Fri), 7(Tue), 8(Wed), 14(Tue) and 15(Wed), and 98 students (50 local students, 48 international students) participated in it in total.
In this event, we enjoyed conversation using "Zoom" App. Depending on the day, we set the main language, Japanese or English, and participants talked in the language.
After being divided into small groups, we got excited about hot topics such as "How have you been spending these days?" "Troubles/interests in online classes". Fortunately, every group member had a nice chat, so some participants told us that "we don’t have enough time" “I would like to talk more!” At the end of the event, we exchanged SNS ID via Zoom App. and it became “a new style intercultural exchange".
It is undecided what kind of events including "Lunch Talk" will be held in the fall semester, but we will announce the event information on our website, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook in the future. Please check & follow the accounts! SIED is going to hold various international exchange events besides "Lunch Talk". We look forward to your participation in the fall semester!
