SIED hosted “Let’s Make ‘Scented Sachet’!” on January 8th (Fri.) at a long-established incense-wood company, Yamadamatsu Incense-wood Co. Ltd. We had a total of 10 participants, 5 international students and 5 local students.
The purpose of this event was to promote intercultural exchange by experiencing the Japanese incense culture, and making original blend incense for sachet.
After receiving an explanation of the incense wood characteristics, each student blended incense powder and created their own favorite fragrance. Both international students and local students enjoyed various Japanese traditional incense, which they rarely have a chance to experience in their daily life. The workshop also allowed them to talk with other participants and interact with one another. Some participants said, "It was my first time to experience Japanese incense, so it was fun!”, ” Thank you for this precious opportunity! “
SIED is planning to hold various events in the next semester as well. We look forward to your participation!
