Report: "Online Lunch Talk"(presented by SIED)

Updated Aug. 2, 2021
SIED's "Online Lunch Talk" was back because we could not hold any face-to-face events due to the State of emergency!
"Lunch Talk" is a popular event of Imadegawa SIED that students talk to each other while eating lunch. The second "Online Lunch Talk" in 2021 was held on July 8th, Thursday, by using only Japanese. The participants this time were 4 international students and 5 local students. We used "dice talk" which was introduced by April’s "Online Lunch Talk" again. In dice talk, we set talk themes from 1 to 6 in advance, and everyone talks about the theme with the number of the dice. Everybody was excited to see how dice rolled. There were quite a few people who were the first time to attend the event, but they enjoyed talking about the topics like "the best place you went to" or "the things or hobbies you hooked on" and so on. They who were in each of the breakout rooms got close to the psychological distance between them immediately. We were able to spend a meaningful intercultural time. We even received a feedback such as "I wish we had more time to talk!"

We are having a difficult time to hold events due to COVID-19; however, we, SIED, will be planning and holding various events such as face-to-face/online styles by preventing the spread of infection carefully.
This event was the last one in 2021 Spring Semester. We are planning events that you can enjoy international exchange in this Fall Semester! We, SIED will be looking forward to your participation soon.
